DAYTON PREVIEW

The Crusaders hit the road for this weekend’s contest at the University of Dayton. Kick-off is 1 PM eastern on Saturday at Welcome Stadium.

I am looking for our team to build on our performance from last Saturday. We played with improved effort. Our staff has challenged our team to play with more discipline and focus so we can make the plays necessary to be successful.

Dayton is led by QB Will Bardo. Bardo is a dual threat QB who does a nice job running Dayton’s spread offense. Gary Hunter is a speedy receiver who will be back to full strength in our game. Dayton is three deep at running back. Our defense will have to do a good job of tackling in space as Dayton will challenge us with their spread option attack.

Dayton always plays tough, physical defense. That has been a trademark of their program forever. We did a good job controlling the line of scrimmage versus Drake. We will have a bigger challenge on our hands this week. Phil Deboer is an excellent interior lineman. Antony Sadler and Pat Dowd create pressure of the edge. LB Colin Monnier is the leading tackler and Ben Walsh is a presence at DB.

Our character quality of the week is consistency. Consistency is defined as, “the achievement of a level of performance that does not vary in quality; being at your best everyday. Steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, or form.”

Consistency implies being focused on your task at hand and executing your assignments with discipline. These qualities are the key to our success on Saturday. The team that wins will be the one that executes on a consistent basis with focus and discipline.

Our goal is to play focused football for four quarters and execute our assignments with discipline and consistency.

WIN THE DAY!

IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A CRUSADER!
