			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Christopher Center for Library and Information Resources and the Valparaiso University Department of English are delighted to announce the release of the <a href="http://scholar.valpo.edu/vfr/vol1/iss2/" target="_blank">Summer 2012 issue</a> of Valparaiso Fiction Review (VFR), the national (international) literary journal. This issue of the journal contains compositions of short fiction by David Meischen, Megan M. Erwin, Susan Solomon, Marysa LaRowe, Corey Mertes, Amie Whittemore, and Joe Ponepinto.</p>
<p>We invite everyone to examine this second issue of VFR to read the fine stories, and we encourage all to pass along word to others who might be interested. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Members of the Valpo community who have published books in 2011/12 will be recognized at the 12th Annual Valparaiso University Authors Reception in the Community Room of the Christopher Center on Thursday, April 19.  Refreshments will be served at 4:00 pm and the opening remarks will be by Martin Buinicki of the Department of English. The recipient of the Library Award for Undergraduate Research will be announced during the reception.  All are welcome.</p>
<p>The Library at Valparaiso University sponsors this reception each year in recognition of National Library Week.</p>
<p>This year’s honorees are Janet Brown, Martin Buinicki, Edward Byrne, Brad Eden, Ruth Ellen Foster, Kristen Mauk, Philip Potempa, Nola Schmidt, Julien Smith, Bernard Trujillo, Peter Venturelli and Linda Whitton.</p>

Launched on March 4, 2011, ValpoScholar has showcased various documents and publications of Valpo’s, including the Valparaiso University Law Review, Valparaiso Fiction Review, and the Valpo Core Reader. Several of Valpo’s faculty members and students have also seen a high number of downloads for their scholarship, including former law student Shannon Noder, who has seen her article “<a href="http://scholar.valpo.edu/vulr/vol44/iss1/7/" target="_blank">Talking and Texting While Driving: A Look at Regulating Cell Phone Use Behind the Wheel</a>” downloaded nearly 4000 times in the past year. The site has also had visitors from over 110 countries in its first year of operation.
