The Valparaiso University Biology Club (VUBC) was founded on November 15, 1933, “to promote interest in the biological sciences, to cultivate ability in these subjects, to foster school pride in scientific pursuits, and to promote fellowship among its members.” All students of Valparaiso University with an interest in biology are welcome to join the VUBC. Since 1999, the VUBC has been actively involved in cold water stream restorations in Northwest Indiana and Southwestern Michigan with our partner, Joe Mitchell (CEO of Rivertenders). In the 2010-2011 academic year, the VUBC donated more than 1,500 hours of river restoration labor. Although club membership is restricted to Valparaiso University students, the public is invited to our lecture series and to our river restoration outings. General membership is free, but admission to the “A-Team” of hardcore “River Runners” requires the purchase of a Biology Club T-shirt and/or book bag for $10 each.
