Meet a Consultant – Zach King September 3, 2008

Posted by zking in : Consultant bios , trackback

While on vacation in Florida last summer, I had a horrifying run-in with The Yeti. There’s the old saying popularized by Groucho Marx – “I wouldn’t want to belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member.” But the Writing Center really is a perfect fit for me.

Hi! My name’s Zach King, and I’m one of the Writing Consultants in an awesome line-up this semester. By way of introduction, I should say that I’m a junior English/History major with a Humanities major/minor floating in there somewhere. (CC will do that to a person, right?) I’m also the Assistant News Editor over on The Torch, so writing’s pretty much in my blood. As far as hobbies go (beyond writing, that is), reading has always been a top passion (favorites include Shakespeare, Paradise Lost, Stephen King, and everything in between), although please don’t get me started on movies during a consultation – I can go for days on cinematic discussions! (My favorite movie of all time is Nolan’s The Dark Knight, followed closely by Scorsese’s The Departed.)

I’ve only been at it a week, but already I love working at the Writing Center. The people with whom I work are intelligent, enthusiastic, and generally virtuous people. My consulting sessions have been rewarding thus far, and I look forward to working with many more writers – novices and Bards alike – this semester!

You’ll find me at the Blue Light Wednesdays 12:30-2:30 and Fridays 3-5. See you there!

(And as for that picture, it comes from a Summer ‘07 trip to Florida, where I narrowly survived an encounter with The Yeti.)
