Who Works at the Writing Center?
In addition to the director, 14 students (including 1 MALS and 2 Law) work at the Writing Center. Selected for their writing skills, these students receive education in rhetoric, analysis, and teaching skills throughout the whole year to assure their growth in the practice of writing consulting. This year, they come from various liberal arts majors and nursing. By attending national conferences or visiting other writing centers, our consultants grow in skills and understand they are part of a large academic practice.
When should I contact the Writing Center?
Call (464-5216) or write Joyce.Hicks@valpo.edu when you’re pondering what help a student needs. Let us know if you would like a set of our publicity bookmarks for your class. Also, you can ask for a presentation on a topic suited to your class, ask for help from a peer consultant or our IT Fellow, or give us suggestions and feedback.
Check the BLUE LIGHT often
We add posts every few days to the other pages. About every two weeks, new topics will appear on our Faculty page. We’ll be providing suggestions for working with International students, new changes in citations styles, and other topics related to writing.
