For Faculty

Who uses the Writing Center?

Eric & client chat Everyone . . .undergrads, grads, and staff. The Writing Center held about 1,100 conference with 460 students last year from over 170 courses–perhaps from yours! Nearly 200 exchanges were through email or IM. Forty students were in grad programs; a hundred clients were international students. We also conferred about personal essays, minutes, and reports.

How can students confer with the Writing Center?

Who Works at the Writing Center?

In addition to the director, 14 students (including 1 MALS and 2 Law) work at the Writing Center. Selected for their writing skills, these students receive education in rhetoric, analysis, and teaching skills throughout the whole year to assure their growth in the practice of writing consulting. This year, they come from various liberal arts majors and nursing. By attending national conferences or visiting other writing centers, our consultants grow in skills and understand they are part of a large academic practice.
