I ask this question because of the curiosity that fills me considering the on-going US presidential debate and the place of Africa within the US economy. For far too long Africa has been an undeniable player in the wealth creation of the West. However, it has been so well down played that the average americans idea of Africa remains a desolate place of pain and agony that lives in the pictures of the crises in Durfur, Sudan, Zimbabwe and the Somalia of yester-years.

Its been 8 years of rule of the Bush’s administration and his second visit to Africa comes a few months to the end of his term in power. The reason for his visit isn’t known as many africans continue to question why he makes such a visit at a time when he is about to leave post. Many issues have been raised, being1. To save face by saying that he has done much to help the poorest people in the world; that indeed is true as his spending on AIDS and money spent in Africa exceeds that of which has been spent by his predecessors.2. To set up a military base in Africa. This in fact to many Africans and Ghanaians are like is the main reason why he made this trip. By this trip it is believed that he hopes to begin a the process of a modern day re-colonization of Africa, by first and foremost setting up a base in a stable country and there-after annexing the United States to the minerals and oil that the US has so come to depend on.
