Home After A While

Its great to see my mum after years, she is with my sister, I had jsut seen her last summer. The air in Ghana felt warm, refreshing but strange. It felt pretty new. The dryness of the harmattan barely setting in. The temperature somewhere in the 30’s(celcius), very much different and much accomdating than the below temperatures I was coming from. We leave the  airport and are headed out. My eyes curious to see the changes over the past years. I find that some things still look the very same and some others, totally new. It was a strange experience being back after a while. It was as though the perception acquired in the west had somewhat changed my thoughts of home. I didn’t know what to expect, even the house that I had grown up in. I arrived in the yard, walked to the back of the house, and suddenly this guy steps out. Almost as dark as I was, taller than me….and I could barely make up any recognition. The said it was Andy, I almsot lost it…my little brother, he was barely should height four years ago and now look…… strange things happen. i got moved into a new room and suddenly I became a guest in my own fathers house. I turn left and then right and I can barely make my way around. cutlery are no more stored in the same drawer, I can’t seem to understand how to operate the appliances, humidity is not like I have experienced in the last four years….my is this really home. I guess it is as it took me a while to start contemplating staying back longer.
