National Signing Day for football was Wednesday February 6.  NCAA rules state that non-scholarship schools can comment on their recruits once the school’s official financial aid letter has been signed and the recruit’s deposit is paid. Our recruits are not through that process yet. We have 23 commits at this time and are working to add more to the class. We will have a complete list once this process is complete.

We are significantly ahead of last year at this time for committed recruits. Our class has quality and depth on both sides of the ball. In addition, the academic credentials are outstanding. I am looking forward to assimilating this year’s class into our team.

Our returning players have been lifting three times a week under the watchful eye of Strength Coach Bob Brooks and our football coaching staff. We have the team in plyometrics, agilities, and conditioning 2 nights per week. We have been posting a daily grade for our player’s effort and technique in the weight room and the conditioning activities. After each activity the coaches involved meet and discuss the individual performances and assign their grade. This provides immediate feedback for the individual on his effort that day.

The coaching staff has been meeting to watch our video cut-ups from 2012 and make an adjustments needed as we move forward to spring practice. We will begin meeting with the players the next three weeks before spring break to teach our offense, defense, and special teams in preparation for spring practice. We start spring practice the week the University returns from Spring break.
