Hello VUSIT Members!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the meeting last night! It was great to see such a great turnout! Also, if you have any friends who want to be a part of VUSIT, but are not Met Majors, let me know and I will add them to the email list! Here are the meeting minutes with some important dates┬áin case you forgot or weren’t present:
Director (Zach):
  • Come to the Fall Meteorology Department picnic this Sunday, Sept. 4th at Noon at Kirchoff Park. If you need a ride or want to walk with others, meet in front of Schnabel Hall by 11:45am.
  • Participation in regular VUSIT events, in addition to Orientation and Spotter Talks, will help give you a better chance to go on day chases.
  • The Christmas Banquet is still a few months out, but it is our big event of the year! It’s a lot of fun and there are skits from students and the profs! May be able to get a discount this year.
  • Follow @ValpoStorm on social media!
Deputy Director (Aaron):
  • If you plan to go on day chases, you MUST attend orientation and spotter talks. These are intending to help you understand how to chase and how to stay safe while doing so.
  • Spotter Talks are September 7th at 8pm in KCH 112.
  • Orientation is September 17th at 10am–Meet in the Weather Center!
Secretary (Sabrina):
  • Christmas Banquet is in a few months (exciting!)– Be on the lookout for emails regarding being on the planning committee around beginning of October. More info is to come soon!
  • Previous years we have had VUSIT decals for sale. This year is still undecided, but magnets are a possibility.
  • If anyone has any ideas for either, let me know!
Treasurer (Austin):
  • Dues are $20 and are due by the 3rd meeting, but there’s no rush right now!
  • Checks can be made out Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team.
  • You can still buy the decals from last year for $5.
