American Meteorological Society (AMS)

Official Seal of the AMS, created in 1920

The American Meteorological Society(AMS) is an organization dedicated to advancing knowledge of the atmospheric sciences and related sciences for the direct benefit of society. They offer journal publications of the atmospheric and related sciences on their website, as well as awards and honors for students (some of which can be found in the scholarships tab on this website!). Additionally, they host an Annual Meeting and Annual Student Conference, where there are a variety of symposiums and conferences that students can attend that discuss all things from operations to policy. More information on that may be found here for the main 2023 conference and here for the student conference!

Upcoming meetings and their locations are available on this page on the AMS website. Students have the option to attend either in-person or virtually. For those attending in-person, Chi Epsilon Pi provides a grant for students to attend the conference that covers travel fees and hotel fees. For more information, please contact your year’s president of Chi Epsilon Pi. Registration fees may be found here.
