African American males are dis proportionally incarcerated in this country. We need to consider the injustices that impact the African American male community.

These statistics reflect a high risk of death by violence and early incarceration for the African American male community.

Also the numbers of African American females incarcerated is on the rise.

The African American communities in the inner city are impacted by gun violence each and every day. we know more than most the terror and pain of a child loss to this violence and we understand the importance of peacemaking as a priority in every community in this country.

We cannot continue to act as if the sell of guns and weapons in this nation will not hurt our communities. We know that unless there is a serious movement to stop the use of violence in our communities then suffering will indeed continue.

As African Americans we stand for the end of violence through our nation and around the world .

Lloyd Morgan a child was shot at a basketball game in New York

Four-year-old Lloyd Morgan (pictured) will be laid to rest on Wednesday following funeral services at a church in Harlem. Morgan was struck in the head and killed by a stray bullet during a vicious gun battle that broke out during a charity basketball game last weekend in the Bronx.

Change can happen only if African Americans in this country

unite and serve our own interest! If we do not work together to address the ongoing issues that are troubling our community

then we cannot expect others to work on these problems.

The impact of urbanization reflects the generations of struggles

that have confronted the African American community.

Here is a list of ten important issues that effect the quality of

life in the African American community.

1. Affordable housing 2. Jobs/work/ 3. Affordable

health care.

4. Crime 5. lack of access to  education/information

6. political disenfranchisement 7. economic exploitation

 8. drugs/addiction

9. lack of local African American cultural institutions

10.  lack of local arts/ publishing and literary  

institutions in the community.

There is no stable middle class African American

community until we address these issues.

We cannot be free until we are all free!

We are our only hope!
